NETGEAR USB Control Center is a program developed by NETGEAR. The most used version is 1.32, with over 98% of all installations currently using this version. Upon installation and setup, it defines an auto-start registry entry which makes this program run on each Windows boot for all user logins.
After plugging my Lexmark E238 printer into a Netgear Nighthawk r7000 USB port, the printer still could not be found. I then downloaded Netgear ReadySHARE Printer Utility v 2.4.0 which is supposed to manage devices connected to the router. Attempting to install multiple times, I keep getting the message: 'NETGEAR USB Control Center Installation is incomplete! Please reinstall again.'
This is on a Mac Mini running 10.13.3. I wanted to use router/wifi sharing for the printer, as I have with my previous Airport Extreme. Anybody able to get a Lexmark printer to show with the R7000? And/or get USB Control Center to work, and successfully access printer across network? On a side note, I've resorted to plugging the printer into Mini's USB port and using printer sharing.
My Macbook (10.7.5) can print from it but may Powerbook (10.5.8) lists it but keeps 'looking for' it during a print job. I cannot re-add it because it does not show in any of the methods of Add Printer. My Dell laptop also does not see the Lexmark via Printer Sharing on the Mac Mini.

I talked with Netgear support yesterday about this issue because my R7000 won’t recognize my printer via USB. Both my iMac and MacBook are running High Sierra and the NETGEAR USB Control Center won’t completely install. It tells me “installation incomplete” please re-install. I allowed the support rep to remotely access my computer so that he could see what’s happening. He deleted the bad installation then uploaded his own installation. However he received the same error message.
He then got second level support on the phone with us and they asked a bunch of questions then stated that Control Center is not supported in High Sierra (well no Schitt Sherlock LOL) and they are aware. Second level guy stated that have numerous open cases for this issue and they have been working on a solution. However they have no estimated date of a fix. I am very disappointed with Netgear. I’m starting to wish I had purchased another brand.
I am a Mac man and have never used Windows. This is the worse support I have ever experienced for my Mac devices. I’m starting to wish I had purchased another brand. I am a Mac man and have never used Windows. This is the worse support I have ever experienced for my Mac devices. Tech support emailed me a new USB tool (2.4) to solve this issue and it worked.
I just printed using the printer connected via USB to my R7000. I also did a firmware update to V1.0.9.141.2.25 first. I don't know if the firmware update was needed for new UB tool to work but everything works now. Thanks Netgear! Although I was able to print, I did have a small issue. So maybe 2.4 is not ready for prime time yet.
UPDATE: I just checked and it is a beta. Sounds like the official release is around the corner.
I heard from support on my small issue. It has been resolved and 2.4 is working great. He didn't indicate when it would be released but said the feedback in beta testing has been great; therefore, the release will be very soon.
